    retaining harddrive information

    hey,

I recently built a new computer and I switched my operating system from XP to 2000 Pro. I want to bring my slave hard drive from my XP system into my XP system and retain all the information on it.

The problem I'm having is that the computer BIOS is recognizing the slave hard drive as being installed but its not showing up in windows 2000.

how can i fix this problem? or am i screwed and i have to reformat?

    Thanks

Right-click My Computer and select Manage from the context menu. In the Computer Management screen, select Disk Management. That will display all your drives, partitions and associated drive letters. You'll probably see that Windows does know that the drive is there but doesn't know what letter(s) to use in Windows Explorer.

Let us know if that helps

I was able to fix the problem by installing some motherboard utilities.

    Thanks
