Angry I can't get rid of AOL

    Hello,

AOL mailed me a free trial disk. I put it in my computer (silly me) and let it load. I then decided not to go any further, so I hit Cancel and stopped the installation.

I then deleted AOL from my computer (or so I thought). I checked: AOL is not on my "Add or Remove Program" list. It is not listed in my registry (I ran a registry cleaner program). When I do a search for "AOL" nothing comes up. AOL not in my Start menu.

    But AOL is not gone!

When go to "Help" to do a System Restore, I can’t get to the System Restore. An AOL window pops up and tries to connect to the internet, over and over again. When I check for running programs (ctrl-alt-del), an AOL program is there. When I stop the AOL program, it automatically comes right back and goes into an endless install loop.

I've called AOL, but they won’t help because I'm not a customer.

    Please help!
    Thanks!

    Jim

i would argue like hell to AOL about this. Explain that they mailed you a free trial version and you want rid of it. Then continue to argue until they accept your demands, it has always worked with me.

ANyways, did you try inserting the trial disk and then see if it has an uninstall feature. If not, just re-install it and then uninstall t through add/remove programs.
