    I messed up something

I was trying to download photoshop. I was missing ZIP files so I tried to download those. Now all of my files are being read in internet explorer. All my pictures, and files have that blue E and I have no idea how to make everything as it was before as I have no idea what I used to have as my default. I got a box that asked me what I wanted to display files in, and like an idiot, I clicked in internet explorer. Can anyone tell me how to switch this back or what I used to have? I never messed with anything on this computer before but I didn't see a typical default option. I'm seriously about to toss the computer out of the window.

Hello Selene, and Welcome to D-A-L.

"Now all of my files are being read in internet explorer. All my pictures, and files have that blue E..."

ALL your files, or just picture formats and Internet shortcuts (blue E)?

Internet shortcuts should open in IE.

jpg/jpeg also "normally" open in IE as well, unless you assign a new program for them.

bmp are associated with Paintbrush (MS Paint).

When you run across a file you want to associate with a certain program, hold down the SHIFT key and right-click on the file. Choose "Open with...". A dialog box should open giving you the ~most used~ programs for Windows. If the program you want isn't listed, choose "Other.." and navigate to the program.

Ensure the "Always use this program...." box has a checkmark in it to make the association permanent.

Please post back with your results (or further questions).
