Thinkpad lost CD drive function Help please!

    Hello,

My thinkpad 600E had been running fine, but now won't recognise that it has a CD drive fitted and the drive won't even open.

It doesn't need a driver because I've reinstalled windows a few times before and it would previously boot from CD when the hard drive is formatted.

    Please help if you can!

    Many thanks

maybe the cable is connected backwards. If that doesn't work, look at it's IRQ settings. They might be a little off. If two periphials have the same IRQ, they will conflict and canceal one another out. If all else fails, send it back and get a new one.
