While in Windows Media Player, if you click on Help, then click on About, the version should be displayed. Windows 98 comes "stock" with WMP version 6.4. Windows Updates attempts to update it up to version 9.x (for 98). Please post your version.

I don't use it myself, nor have I heard of this problem before, but from your description it sounds as if the file or area which holds the file information has somehow been overwritten or mangled.

Newer versions of WMP are available for download here. I wouldn't go higher than version 9.x with Windows 98.

"... when I try to copy more to the computer I get the folowing error "The stroage control blocks were destroyed" and it gives the options of cancel or details and when I click to see details it says there are none currently avalible..."

Downloading and installing a newer version ~may~ fix the storage blocks problem, but I doubt it. You will most likely have to delete any references to the files (in WMP) which are producing this error.

What "command" or utility are you invoking in WMP when you get this error?
