Do you get an Open option? In other words, are you right-clicking a file type that already has a program associated with it, such as a DOC file being associated with Microsoft Word or Wordpad?
I was trying to fix my MP3 folder which somehow got all messed up. Most of the files have changed from the WMplayer icon to various other icons and the file types has changed. File types are : application, short cut to MS-DOS, screen saver, MS-DOS batch file and MP4. I can play some of them but the WM player doesn't open. When I open the player from my desktop shortcut the song is in the playlist but I can't do anything with it.Originally Posted by DJNafey

This sounds very much like your PC has a virus infection. Files changing from MP3 to PIF, BAT, CMD, SCR and EXE formats is a big indicator to a virus infection as these are executable file types that most users are unfamiliar with. Do you have any anti-virus software installed with up-to-date virus definitions that you can do a virus scan with?
