I upgraded from win98 to win2000 with apparent success. I restarted and everything seemed to work ok. I then reinstalled new modem driver and restarted computer. The screen hung at the windows 2000 professional opening screen. Tried rebooting a few more time with no success.

I then tried to reinstall win2000 thinking that was the simplest thing to do. When I restarted the computer loaded the cd-rom without a problem and seemed to install ok. However when I tried to restart and then press F*8 to enter safe mode, I get a screen with a light blue background which says windows 2000 professional and the small dialogue box that says windows 2000 setup, please wait.

And, I wait and waitÉ.I canÕt seem to access anything whatsoever.i donÕt have a boot disk or an emergency repair disk however I do have the w2000 upgrade disk and access to another PC.

How can I solve this problem

Try removing the modem from the system and see what it does, if that was when in became an issue. It could be a resource conflict that generates from within windows due to assigned resources to the memory.
