First go here and download numbers 1, 2, (and 5 if you have USB ports on this machine).

First run number two (INFINST.EXE) as this is more current (2004) than 98 or 98SE files. This updates your system to the most current operating information levels for that chipset.

Next run number one (IAA23_ENU.EXE). This is an Application Accelerator for that chipset. If it finds something uncompatable, anywhere, it simply won't install. No harm done.

If you downloaded anything for number five (USB, etc), run that next.

Then go to DriverGuide and download the ac97.zip file.

    Login: drivers
    Pwrd: all
(Or simply become a member, it's free, and an excellent resource for drivers files.)

Unzip the files to an empty directory (folder). Right-click on the lchaudio.inf file and choose INSTALL.

Restart your system. If all is well and you have sound, delete the files in the empty directory just to clean things up.

"...also have aquired a tool bar just below the refresh/home buttons called mirmar and i cant get shut of it,dont know where its come from.."

Right-click on the Internet Explorer Menu Bar/Tool Bar area and the toolbars which are selected will come up. Click on the MirMar entry to remove the check mark. This should remove the MirMar toolbar from view. If you don't want it around, go to Start, Run, and type in msconfig. Click on the Startup tab and see if there is an entry for this annoyance. If so, remove the check mark. Then go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs to see if there's an entry for it. If so, and you don't want it, remove the "program".

    Post back with the results.

Just run the WINZIP.EXE file and it should install the program. If this is what you're doing and it isn't installing, please describe exactly what happens, or the exact error messages you're receiving.
