win 98 password box on startup

hi, could someone please tell me how to get rid of that username and password box on win98SE please? there is no password set and no user names or anything have been edited, we just want the computer to load straight off (without pressing enter, ok, Esc, cancel etc on that passord box)

    Thanks,
    Mike

I think that's your problem - if you're logging onto a network, you have to have a username / password. If you don't want to log on to a network when Windows starts, change the Primary Logon to Windows Logon or Windows Family Logon, depending on what option is available. If you can't switch to either of those, you might need to Add it to the list.

Oh yes! In the "who makes the worst software?" charts, AOL are pretty close to the top. As well as making their software so demanding that you practically have to buy a new PC every time they automatically install a new version (normally without you knowing), they'll also take the liberty of doing anything else on your PC that they think will help them out. OK, maybe I'm exaggerating slightly but I would definitely not be surprised if they changed network settings. Their software really is awful ...... and all that it's supposed to do is connect you to the Internet!

I always encourage people to ditch AOL at the earliest opportunity. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a "catch 22" situation - if they haven't wrecked your PC completely when you've installed their software, then they'll wreck it when you try to take it off!

lol that sounds about right..... i looked on my hard drive the other day (on my pc) and i had:
    AOL 8
    AOL 9
    AOL 9a
    AOL 9b
    and AOL9c

Wonder what they would do when it got to z... z1, z2, z3, lol
can't wait to change from aol
