Please be aware that you aren't allowed to run the software on two PCs at the same time as this will be breaking the licencing/copyright laws. You are allowed to move the licence to another PC, i.e. install the software on a second PC and remove it from the first PC but you must ensure that you don't use them both at the same time. This is particularly true if you are planning on selling your old PC to someone else. That someone else could get you into a lot of trouble if they use software that has been installed a second time onto your new system.

Most programs such as Microsoft Office etc cannot be copied onto a disk and then copied onto a new PC. You need the original installation program for the software, which will usually be on a CD. Do you have the original CDs? Alternatively, some programs are downloaded from the software manufacturer's web site.

If you don't have the original CDs, you can often buy older versions of software (such as those programs that are probably installed on your old PC) much more cheaply than the latest versions that are available.

Hope that helps to clarify it

I dont plan on giving this ancient pc to anyone. I just wanted to save a few programs that I have downloaded from a site. But, as you suggested, I can re-visit the sites to download them on my new pc. Thanks for your help.
