    Nisar,

When you are referring to the "Windows driver", what do you mean? Are you talking about the Windows Explorer program? Is it restarting only when you go into the C:\Windows folder?

It might be worth having a look in Device Manager for problems with your hardware first of all. Right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Properties from the menu. Then go to the Device Manager tab. Is there anything showing an error with a yellow exclamation mark icon next to it?

Yes.Yes.Exactly at that very moment.I also looked for any conflicts in the Device Manager Tab.There were none.

OK, you'll have to forgive me for not having looked at a Windows 98 PC for a long time but, from what I remember, if you go into Windows Explorer and select the Tools menu, there will be a Folder Options item. Select that and then find the option to view folders in classic view (if it exists). You want to disable web page view or Active Desktop. Basically, the fancy bit where it hides your Windows files from you until you click the 'Show files in this folder' link - that can cause problems.

Reboot once you have switched that off and see whether the problem is fixed.

The option to rate a thread seems to have disappeared with the new site design but I'm glad to hear that that idea worked - thanks for the feedback
