    Disabling Program Autorun

For some reason, my Limewire PRO application automatically starts when my computer restarts. Also, if I exit the Limewire program, it automatically restarts/reopens the program. how do i stop this annoying problem? How can I disable this program from starting up unless I specifically choose to open it? Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I think this works in ME:

    start/run msconfig | startup

Uncheck the item. Also you can use this program:

    http://www.ccleaner.com/

    Look under Tools | Startup

Also here is a comprehensive list of startup locations in Windows:

i looked in the startup folder and under msconfig. However, limwire is not listed on either of these. i dont get what to do with all of the "HKeys" on the link you gave me. Also, the ccleaner isnt going to help me, i dont think. ANy more help would be awesome. Thanks

    The "HKeys" are registry values.

Open the registry editor via start/run/ regedit
Clicking on a + sign opens the next level e.g.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run registry key
click the + next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
click the + next to Software
click the + next to Microsoft
click the + next to Windows
click the + next to CurrentVersion
click the + next to Run

If LimeWire is there Delete it. Check the other listed locations as well.

I also see this "fix" which requires turning off Windows AutoUpdates which is something I do not recommend. It seems that LimeWire may associate itself with WindowsUpdate settings which is not cool.

Another option is to uninstall LimeWire.

Also considering the nature of LimeWire I would suggest the following:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.
    (Not in this section please).
