New Labtec microphone that seems to be connected properly, its not being recognised so i thought it might be something to do with drivers...
Running Windows 98SE on an Elite computer. Sound card ( so far as i can see is C-Media Audio Direct Sound Driver (?) and CMAUDIO.VXD

Have you looked here at Labtecs troubleshooter? Here

Have you opened up your C-Media Mixer to ensure the Mic input is not muted and the level is up? If the Mic input is not listed, usually going to Advanced Controls allows you to choose it as a displayed input.
