PC Hangs when left idle for a few seconds

I have a windows 2000 Professional which keeps freezing up when i leave it idle for a few seconds. (Power Management , screen savers etc. are already all disabled).
Even in safe Mode, but it doesnt hang when you continuously move the mouse or the keyboard, but once you stop after 5 seconds...it freezes

Can you check in Device Manager (right-click My Computer and go to Properties > Hardware) to see if any issues are identified by a yellow exclamation mark?

If there's no problem there, try disabling virtual memory (right-click My Computer and go to Properties > Advanced). That will require a reboot to take effect.

If that makes no difference, switch the virtual memory back on and try running the disk error-checking tool (right-click My Computer and go to Manage > Disk Management).

Have you run out of hard disk space?

Has any new hardware been fitted or software or drivers been installed just before this problem started?
