My friends computer stopped working, and I went to fix it. It had a mini cd in the floppy, after I got it back together, it starts but it says this "needs command interpreter" and "c:\windows\command.com."
Before I forget,before I took it apart, it was saying error oleau 32 dll, I think than that was because the mini cd in the floppy.

If the floppy drive is working, ensure the floppy is the first boot device. (This is set in the bios, post back if you're not familiar with this.)

Boot with a floppy bootdisk for the O/S being used, 98FE or 98SE. If you don't know which you have, post back the date and time on the c:\io.sys file. If you need a bootdisk* for this information, click here. Boot with this and at the A:\> prompt type in

dir/a/o/p c:

If the c:\io.sys file has 4/23/99 10:22 PM, you can use the bootdisk you've just downloaded. (98SE) At the A:\> prompt type in

sys c:

and you should see "System transferred". Remove the bootdisk and try to boot normally. Post back your results. We'll address the oleau32.dll problem once the system boots satisfactorily.


*Download the file to your hard disk (Desktop?) and run the file to create the bootdisk. Don't just copy the file to a floppy.
