    Required drivers for win2k server

What are the required drivers that starts windows 2000 into windows. I am talking the required files in %windir%\system32\drivers. In windows 2000 there is a driver that it does not like about so I want to know which are the required drivers because windows keeps restarting.

    Thanks

Two tips to help find the problem:

    1. Try booting into Safe Mode (press F8 during the startup sequence when it says 'Press F8 for startup options' at the bottom of the screen). Loading into Safe Mode bypasses many drivers such as video, sound, modem, network card, etc so, if it loads OK in Safe Mode, the problem could be in one of those. Once it has booted, go into Device Manager and see if any of the listed devices have a yellow warning symbol next to them.

    2. Once you've got it booted into Safe Mode, right-click My Computer, go to Properties and de-select the option to reboot automatically when it has a STOP error. Press OK and reboot. The next time it gets stuck with a driver during the boot sequence, you'll get a blue screen STOP error. This will have an error code that you can look up on the Microsoft web site to find the cause of the problem.

Let us know if that helps

    Hello DJNafey,

Thanks for your response, I'm using windows 2000 server and when I press F8 i do not see such option('Press F8 for startup options' ). I tried to rename the drivers folder in the system32 directory and then loading only the drivers that is required by windows 2000, but that will take me so much time.

So I guess I'll have to reinstall windows 2000 server again.

    Thanks,

If it will take a long time to re-configure the server, you could try booting from the Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM and choose the Repair option to try to repair the current Windows installation.
