    Cool computer won't boot

Recently when I turn on my pc the crt displays the "monitor working check computer and cable" emblem while the cd/dvd burner light flashes. It will do this indefinitely. If I get the burner tray to open by repeatedly pushing its button the computer immediately boots up. When I close the tray the computer often (but not always) shuts down instantly. If it keeps running everything seems fine and the burner even works just like it always did. I'm running Windows 98se and McAfee says the pc is clean. I've defragged recently too. Oh yea, does "D:\Azza.exe" have something to do with this? I looked at the "run" log of the "start" menu one day at about the time this all started, and there it was. D: is my burner.
July 27th. Now it's one day later and I have found the solution. A defective connection of the monitor at the computer. I originally dismissed this possibility because the monitor worked fine once I tricked the unit into running. This makes the one-thousandth time that I have had to learn not to overlook the simple stuff!

If you're normal, that (1,000th) number will probably increase, it did for me. ;>) It happens to many. You get caught up, can't see the trees for the forest, forget the basics/obvious.

A good rule; check twice, power up once. (Taken from the old carpentry rule - measure twice, cut once.)

Glad to hear you found the fault.
