Problem Loading Windows
Got a problem when windows trys to load.
p c turns off sometimes durin loading process, doesnt happen everytime.
it seems to load without any problems when i restart, but after a shutdown
is when the problem seems most likely to occur.
Maybe a problem with power supply?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Just to clarify:
As Windows is loading the computer actually shuts down? Loses all power?
Always at the same point? Logo Screen? Login Screen?
Does it happen repeatedly? Or after one shut down are you able to load?
Is this a new problem?
What is the make & model of the computer?

Thanks for response!
Yes comp loses power completly,i have to hit the flip switch on the power supply.
Yes repeatedly,it took 3 attempts last time i started comp to get windows to load, but doesnt seem to occur if i do a restart.
Comp is 4 years old or so,think i been dealing with this for like 2 weeks or so,
so kinda like a new problem you might say heh.
Problem may have started when i lost power @ home due to thunderstorm.
Comp is a northgate, whatever that is
Has a pentium III processor
150 megs of RAM i think
30 gig hd
So its old & slow
Thanks for your response Jephree

A restart does not cut the power like a full shut down does.
With the lightning info I would suspect the PSU although I don't know why it would start & then sometimes stop.
Are/ were you plugged into a surge protector? Have you tried a different outlet? A different protector?
Are there any other switches on the PSU? Reset? Fuse?
If you are comfortable in opening up the case it wouldn't hurt to check the wiring.
Check for good connections as well as any burn marks (especially around connectors).
