    Win 98 wont shut down

Bit of a problem. My pc wont shut down. had lots of problems recently with viruses spyware etc and solved all of those (thanks to dal people). Sfc shows nothing. when shut down reaches Window Logo Win 98 is shutting down, it stops and has to be turned off, which in turn idicates improper shut down when re-started.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

98 shut down problems are ~usually~ due to programs not properly or readily shutting down.

Just prior to shutting down, open Task Manager (Ctrl/Alt/Del once) and see what is currently running. AV, firewall, scrensavers, etc, ~may~ be at fault. Post back what processes your machine is running just prior to shutdown.
