Hard Disk Not Detected
Hi everbody.I am new here.I came to know that all problems on PC are solved here.So i came here. You guys are doing a fabulous job.
Of lately, when i switch on my computer after 15 hrs or more, my hard disk and CD drive never get detected by the system. When i switch off the system and then turn it on immediately, then everthing works fine. Why does it not detect my hard disk and Cd drive at the first try? This happens everyday.Only at the second attempt, i achieve success.
Thank You.

Hello & Welcome,
I have seen this before ... it could be old age ... perhaps dust ... perhaps a weak CMOS battery.
Are you familiar with opening the case?
What is the exact make & model of the computer?
Do you have a PCI IDE controller card or on-board IDE connectors?
I often find it usefull to either upgrade or reinstall the BIOS as well.

This problem sounds very much to me like a dead CMOS (motherboard) battery. These are almost always CR2032 batteries in modern PCs, available for just a few pounds / dollars / sheckels from any good computer store
