Re: Invalid system disk Replace the disk, and then press any key

I found this but I am not sure if it is any help or not. It seems kind of like we have the wrong driver or it needs to be tweeked a bit. At least it knows it is there niow if I can just get them to understand each other we would be in business.

    CDR 101

    Cause:

    Driver issue / Hardware issue

    Recommendations:

Boot to a: - Attempt to boot from a boot disk that has CD-ROM support. Test the CD-ROM drive. If the drivers are properly loaded on the diskette however you still receive problem its a good possibility it is a hardware .issue attempt to reset the cables.
Check cables - If you have moved, installed anything recently into your computer or booting from A does not detect the CD-ROM its a good possibility cables may not be connect or loose within your computer. It is recommended that you open your computer and reseat the cables connected on the back of your CD-ROM drive and connected to your Motherboard.
    Check drivers
Booting A works however without disk it does not work - Its a good possibility that the drivers are not being loaded properly within your autoexec.bat / config.sys. See our CD-ROM drivers page for additional driver installation help.

OK. Boot with the 98SE bootdisk, no cdrom support. (Quicker, less memory used.)

Change to the RAMDRIVE created. D: in your case I believe. Type in

    copy/v edit.com c:\

and hit Enter. You should see "One file copied" or similar. With this on C:, you can now edit text based files. Remove the floppy and boot the machine. At the C:\> prompt, you just type in; (example)

edit c:\config.sys (or just "edit config.sys" because you're already in the root directory of C:.)

Use arrow keys, Del, Backspace, shift ~and~ arrows highlight, etc, to get around and make changes. When you're finished, hit (seperately) Alt, then F, then X, then Enter to save changes and return to the dos command prompt.

I gotta go help with dinner. I'll be back later.

EDIT: I see we're crossing posts now. But I gotta go, she's waiting. I'll read and be back. ;>)

Here are my results, and I agree it is dinner time. Take a break from it like me... When you come up with something new, I will be here ready and waiting, but for now, I plan to spend the rest of my Sunday evening with my girls. You do the same we have been on this all day. All work and no play makes Mark have a bad day!!!

    BUSCLK=0 no change
    MODE-0 no change
    NOEPP no change
EPP=5 error message, unreconized parameter in CONFIG.SYS with an arrow pointing to the E

I will leave it right here so when that thing that we forget hits you, it will be ready. And judgeing from your past posts, I am sure it won't be long before it hits you. I am ready when you are......Until then take it easy

Okay I know I said no hurry, but I had a break though this morning. I saved the bpsd203.exe driver to my desktop then ran it. It extracted down to disk1 and disk2 on my desktop and the cdguide told me how to save each one to a floppy. I did that then moved to the laptop and installed disk1, but it never asked for disk2. Anyway I did a restart and for the heck of it I did a d:\dir
And it read it woohooo, but would not allow win98 to instal - kept saying problem loading progman.exe. But right now it is about halfway installing win95. I assume my 98 has a problem, will investigate later, for now it will just be 95. Thanks for all your HELP
I know there may be other problems arise with it as I go along and try to finish all my installs and try to get it back online, but I will post them in a new thread. I guess we can finally close this thread. I would have to say you solved the biggest problem I have ever come across.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
