How do I upgrade Windows 95 to 98?

I bought QuickBooks and it doesn't work on Windows 95, only 98 or better. I have a Windows 98 CD from a friend, but I don't know if its an update or full version. How do I install 98 so I can use my Quickbooks? How do I know what is on that CD? If I put it in the drive, will it just over write the 95? Do I have to get rid of the 95 first? I tried to search for the answer, but I couldn't find anything that made sense to me. Help! and thank you

Did you buy the Windows 98 CD and licence certificate from your friend or have you just borrowed the CD? You need to make sure that you have your own licence of Windows 98 before you install it on your PC, otherwise you'll be using the same copy twice (on your PC and on your friend's PC) and this is illegal as it breaches Microsoft's copyright regulations. This is a form of software piracy and, for that reason, I'm afraid that we won't be able to help you if that's what you're doing.

If you've bought it from your friend, you do need to know whether you've bought Windows 98 Upgrade or a "clean install" version of Windows 98 / Windows 98 Second Edition. The answer to which one you have will determine our advice as to how you can install it.
