Sloooowwwww Windows 98 Dell
Hi,
My in-laws computer is running slow. It's an older Dell running Windows 98. Here is their HJT log - is there something here that is clogging up the works???
Thanks!

Another thing, I've been installing windows updates and in restarting I've found that this computer freezes in the middle of the process. My Mom-in-law said that's why they never turn it off.

I can't tell you about the hijack log. When 98 boots up it freezes at the win 98 screen, is that right? If so its a known problem and I don't think anyone ever really fixed it. I recently put ME on mine after w98 cause I was sick of resetting it when it froze at the splash screen. Since upgrading I haven't had one problem with it.
Win 98 was terrible for bogging down after a while and I always did a clean install every 12 months after backing up everything I wanted.
Have you run scandisk and defrag lately?

I tried to do both and it froze at both. I'll look into upgrading.
Thanks!!!
