    Question keeping drivers before changing operation systems

    Hi All,
    I want to update my operating system from win'98 to win'98SE. Is there anyway to save the drivers for my cdrom and my display drivers before I install win'98SE? I've updated my operating system on my other computer and lost my drivers. It was a pain to fine them on the internet and to make sure I had the right ones. I do not have the start up disk that came with the computer. Any help before I start will be greatly appreciated.

    No problem

    You were moved

    I don't know much about 98 but someone will be along.

    I don't know if the drivers are in a state to be copied from the hard drive.

    You may need to find them online again.

    What is the make & model of the cdrom?

    What is the make & model of the display device?

    You shouldn't really need to back up drivers for 98 to 98SE unless;
    1) some are non-MS, and you don't have them
    2) you're going to format the hard disk and start fresh.

    If you want to back them up, grab this, unzip and load it. Once loaded, run it for non MS drivers. (Don't choose Make All, as this will include MS drivers which are already available on the O/S CD.)

    By default, it will create C:\My Drivers and dump the resulting sub-directories/files into it. Copy this directory and all contents to floppy. Sometimes the entire My Drivers directory will fit on a single floppy. If it doesn't you'll need to do some fancy zip or file manipulation/copying to several floppies. Once your new windows O/S is installed, copy the directory from the floppy to C:, load/run the program, and select Install.

    Post back with further questions, problems, and results as to what you have done.

    thanks so much. I did as you said and was able to save my drivers. Come to find out I didn't need it. When I installed win98SE it gave me all the drivers I needed. Problem solved! I will keep the program incase I need it in the future.
