I have an older Dell computer with Windows 98. I have dial-up internet service with BellSouth, they have been great about trying to find the problem but no luck.
If I shutdown and restart, I can stay online for about 40 minutes, then is will disconnect. If I reconnect it will disconnect again and again until I shutdown and restart again then I can stay online for another 40-45 minutes.
Can someone tell me what is wrong with this thing or what needs to be done.
Bellsouth suggested uninstalling Windows and reinstalling. Any answers? Or if your technicians have an answer? Could it possibly be fan on central processor is not working properly or have lost chains?????

I'm having a similiar problem, though I don't need to restart my PC to be able to connect again.
If I figure out what is causing it, I'll post my solution here.
