    Re: Regsvr32 problems

I'm running Windows 2000, and I'm having the same exact problem listed regarding the lack of a registration helper. I don't really know if this is the right forum but I figured it would be easier to just bump a thread that already had the problem spelled out.

Actually it is easier for all to start from scratch. (especially as that thread had no solution & a different Operating System).

Please feel free to quote any relevant info from other threads but it would be best to describe your own specific problem.

    Thanks.

Sorry about that. My problem is that whenever I try to run a program or game based on DOS or Windows 9X, I get the following message. "C:\winnt\system32\Autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'close' to terminate the application".

I looked around online and was told that I might be missing a shell.dll file, so I found that and when I tried to run it, I got the (additional) following error "C: winnt\System32\DLLcache\shell.dll is not an executable file and no registration helper is registered for this file type".

I don't know what to do next regarding either problem, but any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

No problem. The first error is quite common. The fix is basically the same for 2000 & XP.

Is this what you have tried already?

If this does not solve the problem then we can search the latter error.

I did what was mentioned there, and everything seems to be working properly now. Thanks for the assist. If I have any further issues, I'll be sure to list them.
