Hi, could anyone advise on the best display settings for a 17" dell monitor using an NVidia TNT M64 graphics card. The options I'm confused about are 256 colour, 16bit true colour and 32bit true colour.

It basically comes down to what you use your system for, crossed with what you find pleasing (color/detail-wise) to your eye. Color settings also use a bit more resources the higher you go in the settings, but this is really negligable.

In a nutshell, if you're a gamer or video editor you'll (probably) want higher settings. This gives smoother color transition.

Cheers Dan, I'm mainly doing digital photo editing etc using adobe photoshop 7. I just wasn't sure if the different settings would would effect the pictures.

The settings definitely affect the pictures. The lower the setting, the "grainier" the picture, and detailing becomes more difficult.
