    Formating problems

I am running windows ME on my pc and wanted to change to XP. I installed XP without taking ME off and then thought i could format the old ME drive and merge that drive back into my larger drive. For some reason I cant format the ME drive. I tried formating it whilst running XP but it gets all the way to the end of the format process and windows says that its not possible.I dont have a floppy drive on my pc, any ideas how i can get to the C: prompt when i boot without a floppy drive so i can format there? I also tried to install XP on the C: drive where ME is and it wont let me.

First off when you talk about Drives are you referring to Partitions?

Then what is the final result you are looking for?

XP will do its' own formatting.

    You have XP already installed?

    You have ME on C:?
    XP on ???
    Any other partitions?

What are the exact error messages you get during your various attempts?

Is there some reason that you don't want to have XP format the entire drive?

    ________________________________________________

Boot the bootable WinXP CD, when Setup runs, it will eventually expose the
partition manager, where you can delete old partitions, create and format
new partitions, etc., then just select the partition you want for
    installation.
