I've been searching through forums but still can't find a helpful answer to the problem I'm having...my computer (Windows 98) is stuck at 640 x 480 resolution, and 16 colors. My graphics card is a S3 Trio 3D On Board, and I tried installing the drivers for this--it still doesn't work. I also tried reinstalling the original drivers from the Windows 98 disc--that didn't help either.
I had GeForce fx 5200 pci card in there, with NVidia for the thing, but then I bought another computer and put this card in the new computer instead. Now the old computer (the one with the problem) is back to the original graphics card, but the settings are all messed up. I could change the settings before I switched graphics cards around, so I think this has something to do with the drivers...which is why I tried to reinstall the drivers for the S3 Trio 3D...but that didn't work...so now I'm lost. Does anyone have any idea what I should do?

Is this the driver version you've tried? If not, try it. It's "supposed" to be the latest driver.

Also check the bios to ensure it's set for onboard video (or Auto).

There's also a link near the bottom for a card ID utility in case you're not sure about your card model.

That's the driver I had on but it still wasn't working...so a few minutes ago I tried downloading a different version (not the latest one), and for Windows 95 (even though my computer runs on Windows 98) and it worked. It's really weird why that worked, but I'm just happy that my screen doesn't look so crappy anymore

I guess your current hardware couldn't handle the latest driver revision. Are your motherboard drivers current for your board model/revision?
