hi hope someone can help....i recently installed windows xp and have found my comp not new enough to cope(runs slow) so have bought millenium edition to install instead.....my prob is when trying to run the set up i get these messages below..
16 BIT WINDOWS SUBSYTEM
an application has attempted to direclty acces the hard disk,which cannot be supported,this may cause the application to function inccorectly,chose close to terminate.
CLOSE IGNORE
i chose ignore then got this
WINDOWS MILLENIUM EDITION SETUP
setup cannot run from within windows 2000,shut down windows 2000,re start comp using win 95 or 98 and then run setup,otherwise start MS-DOS and then run setup from the MS-DOS command prompt......?????

i do not have win 95 or 98 disc so this option is out,also do not know what the ms dos thing is all about....i have no data or saved items on comp that im interested in keeping..i just want mill installed to get comp back the way it used to be........so if anyone can tell me what to do to get rid of xp then let me know please.........steve

why does your computer run slow ? how much RAM have you got ? what speed is your chip ? how big is your hard drive?

if it def wont run XP then you'll have to format the hard drive as XP runs on a different file system to ME

Just to add my 2¢¢:

If you have the ability to upgrade your hardware it would be far preferable than to downgrade your Operating System.

And also consider that if you downgrade & intend to use that copy of XP on another computer you will need to clear this with Microsoft as you have tied that Product Key to that computer.
