I have Windows 98 1st Edition and Control Panel won't open up. I just see a search light and a blank screen.

Is this the only application not working properly? If so, try extracting a new control.exe file from the WIN98_40.CAB file in the win98 directory on the 98FE cd. Extract it to c:\windows.
