I'm having problems installing new software. When I click on My Computer, then on properties for D drive the pie chart shows full.

Is D your CDRom ? it will show full as you can not write anymore to the CD
Does the software not auto play?
what sofware is it?

Yes, Jeff, D is the drive for my CD Rom. The software (Greeting Cards) starts to install but then I get a message saying I need 64mb to run it - which the pc does have. It won't let me proceed any further.

is it 64 mb ram or 64 mb of hard drive space ?
how much ram have you got, and how big is your hard drive ?

Ooh...err..not too sure, Jeff I think it's 64mb Ram.
Will have to check for sure tonight (in work at present).

The 64MB could mean RAM, drive space needed to install, or free drive space after the install for "scratchpad" or similar use.

I've just found out from the publishers of the software that I will need to add more RAM in order to install the programme.
I am a bit narked about this as the minimum spec was advertised as 64mb and that is what my pc has.
I have no idea about adding RAM. Is it very expensive ?
Would it just be easier all round to ask for a refund on the software ?

Do you know what sort of RAM you have at the mo ? if not go to www.belarc.com/free_download.html download the programme it will tell you a lot about your machine and what sort of RAM you have and then go to Crucial and they'll give you some details like how much RAM your motherboard can take and prices of RAM although you don't have to buy it from them. Looking on the net there's a lot of suppliers of memory any more problems come back..we're all here to help

Thanks, Jeff. I did look at the crucial site earlier but couldn't match my pc with any on their lists.
But I will download to find out about the sort of RAM.

Those 2 sites were very useful thanks, Jeff. The better download turned out to be from the Crucial site which recommended exactly which RAM to buy. So I tentatively placed the order...I'll admit I'm not looking forward to connecting it up (or whatever I have to do with it !) when it arrives
