I am running Word 2003 when opening a new or existing document a virus scanning note appears in the bottom LH corner it take a good minute to open a document.
I have AVG Professional and have disabled the Resident Sheild for programmes & Documents but still each document is scanned for virus's.
I have also set the Macro option to its lowest level.

When I try to quit the programme does not respond.

All auto updates are up to date.
