Question Turning OFF Windows Log On

I got my computer recently fixed and when I turned it back on for the 1st time I accidently pressed OK instead of CANCEL when the Log On prompt came up. Now, EVERYTIME I turn it on, I have to hit cancel. How can I turn it off (or delete) it for good! I've never used and don't want to! I just want it to boot up w/ me hitting cancel!

    Thanks,
    Erin

Windows Millennium should be the same as Windows 98 as far as I know. Unfortunately, I don't have either in front of me at the moment but I'll try to do it from memory:

    Click Start Menu
    Click Settings
    Click Control Panel
    Double-Click 'Users' icon
There should be an option to let each user customise their own settings or apply the same settings to all users (that's what you want - all users with the same settings basically means no individual users and no logon names).

Let us know if that helps

I tried that, but it didn't work. Now it is just a different Windows Logon that comes up. I might have to reinstall my Windows ME.

    Thanks anyway,

If you haven't assigned a password for yourself, then pressing OK to the standard plain Windows Logon box should be fine - the next time you reboot, the prompt shouldn't appear and it should automatically go straight through to the desktop. If you've put in a password and then pressed OK, then you've deliberately initiated the basic Windows ME security so you can't undo that.

If neither of those scenarios apply to you, then you should go back to whoever "fixed" your computer recently and see if they know what they broke!

Jephree - Your annoyance link worked wonders! I found just what I needed! I went to control panel/passwords and choose "all users have same settings".

    Thanks so much everyone!
