Removing and then Reusing Partitions
Hello.
I partitioned my hard drive using FDISK, installed Linux and Windows 98. The machine worked fine as a duel boot system. I deleted the partition and reformated my hard drive. Presumably I should have the full 13 GB, but I only have the 5.5 I had on the Windows parition (determined from properties on the C drive). When I use FDISK it says that my primary dos drive (the only one there) has 13 GB. So, there is a discrepancy between the space I have and what I can use. My question is how do I get Windows to use the full 13 GB rather than the 5.5 GB it is currently using. I don't understand why it isn't working becuase I deleated the partition, formated the hard drive, and installed Windows 98. Thanks very much,
Ken

Forgive me for being a little confused but reading part of your message suggests to me that you had Windows 98 on a 5.5Gb partition previously and you had Linux on a 7.5Gb partition. However, contradicting that, you said that FDISK shows only one partition.
You've deleted your Windows 98 partition through FDISK and then you've formatted it and installed Windows 98 again. Do you still have Linux running? Is it on a different partition?
If Linux is running on a different partition, then you won't be able to use that same disk space in your Windows 98 partition as well - you can only use the space once. If the Linux partition isn't formatted as a FAT or FAT32 file system type, then that's perhaps why FDISK can't see it ..... although I would have expected it to show as a "Non-DOS" partition actually

Run fdisk. Choose option 4. What exactly does it state?
