    Windows Media Player

I cannot hear an audiobook even though a driver is installed. Windows Media Player comes up as the default player, but it cannot give me sound. I see it give me a warning that it cannot support digital audio, but will not play sound in analog mode either.

Further, it appears that Roland's UM-1 driver and Vinyl Audio driver package do not get along. As long as the Roland is installed, the Vinyl will not start up, even though uninstalled, and reinstalled. What gives? All I wanted to hear was a simple audiobook in the CD rom drive. Ideas?

Does all this driver trouble so far this year sound like a motherboard that needs a look? I have had grahics, modem and sound card driver problems all this year so far. They all go out and have had to be reinstalled. Just this morning, to get online, I had to reinstall the modem driver. What does this sound like?
