Hard Disk Errors
Hello,
I need some advice please. A computer that I am trying to fix will not let me reinstall Windows 98 SE. It says that I had some errors on the hard disk. Can I format drive c: and reinstall windows 98 without the windows 95 disk? If there is a way I can get this fixed please let me know.

If you have a genuine Windows 98 SE CD and a PC that supports booting from a CDROM, then you should be able to put the CDROM in the drive as soon as the PC starts up and get it to boot from that. Then you might get a boot menu with an option to load up to a command prompt, rather than trying to run Windows.
Once at the command prompt, you can use the Scandisk /all command to check the disk for errors in DOS.
Then use the format c: /s command to format the hard disk prepare it for a Windows 98 SE installation.
Then use the D:/Win98/Setup.exe command (assuming that D: is your CDROM drive letter) to run the Windows 98 SE installation routine.
