i am presently using spybot to scan adware. it comes up congradulations you have no spyware. then i use yahoo's anti spy and it brings up files that say adware. but i don't know if i need it. it says sometimes in order to maintain software for free you accept the adware. any ideas?

This is normal. Yahoo's anti-spyware software appears to be detecting files that Spybot Search & Destroy is either not aware of or does not consider to be a risk. Many applications come bundled with adware. Adware is generally presented in the form of banner adverts for sponsors of the free / trial application. A good example of this is Globalscape's CuteFTP application.

As there are such a multitude of different adware systems out there, we couldn't give you any general advisory comment other than repeating what the Yahoo software said - sometimes, adware isn't really that harmful and it's worth keeping it so that you can use the free / trial application.

If you're still concerned, then you'll need to let us know what adware was detected and where it found it (the related program would be very useful to know).
