If you dont know all of this information please provide as much as you know or ask us and we can point you in the direction of some great system information tools to help you in this regard.

    switch on the PC, wait 5 seconds and then press the F8 key repeatedly every second. You should then see a boot menu. Choose the option to start up in Safe Mode. This is a restricted version of Windows for diagnostics.

    Open Windows Explorer and find C:\Windows\Windows Update.log.

    Look for an error at the time that you did your Windows Update - log files are normally in chronological order so the last time you visited the Windows Update site, you might find that an error was logged at the beginning or end of the log file.

    If you find an error at the time of your last Windows Update, let us know what the error message (if any) and the error number is. I've found a site that explains what some of these error numbers mean.
