Thumbs up Re: New girl on the board

Just to let you know, I've already spread the word of your site to a forum of people who love a particular island in Greece. The administrator was good enough to provide an 'extra' message board so we could also chat about other things too. There are often computer gremlin questions on there. Hope they find you as helpful as I have. Many thanks D-A-L team.

Could be worse Dan - you could be an alcoholic like me or a cocaine addict like D-A-L, lol

Well fortunately(?) I'm neither. Just what could/would be called a computer nut. (I sort of dislike the term geek as far as I'm concerned.) But, I dream in binary. ;>) 54 and been around the world. (I'm a displaced "Merican", came to Canada after my tour in Viet Nam. Given that, I'm one of the "strange" ones here. But that's another story.) Just glad to help if I can.

    Again, Thanks for the Welcome.

Hi DJ, I've just had a quick look on my PC to familiarise myself with your instructions. When you say "change the refresh rate" do you mean in the 'adaptor' section of the advanced option? I didn't open it in Safe Mode but I presume all the tabs are the same anyway.

Erm, I'm on Windows 2000 so I think my screen looks a little different to yours but it sounds like you've got the right idea. Go to the Display Properties screen, click the Settings tab, press the Advanced button and click on the 'Adapter' or 'Monitor' tab. If the option isn't labelled 'Refresh rate', it might be labelled 'Refresh frequency' but it means the same thing

Just to let you know DJ, I followed your instructions and I now have a very happy little grand-daughter with a working PC - can't thank you enough, I wouldn't have known where to start.
