    Angry Iexplore invalid page fault...

Recurring problem: Iexplore invalid page fault in MMSystem.DLL at module 0004:00000db3. Clicking "Ignore" or "Close" does nothing. System is frozen???I've searched MicroSoft Knowledge Base and found nothing on this specific error message, so I'm asking the experts. Help! It does not occur often, but when it does, it always seems to be the same module number.

I have two suggestions for you:

    1. Go to the Run prompt (off of the Start Menu) and type sfc. This starts up Windows 98's System File Checker, which can scan all of your system files and detect any that are a different version to what Windows 98 shipped with and it will then give you the choice to restore the original copy off of the Windows 98 CD. Bearing in mind that Windows 98 is now 7 years old, it will find LOADS that have been updated by newer software programs so don't choose this option. Instead, choose the option to extract a single file from the Windows 98 CD (or other directory containing the source files). Specify mmsystem.dll and it will wipe the apparently corrupted copy and replace it with the original version. Note that any newer software that needs this file might have an issue if it finds an old version and so you might have to re-install some other applications as well.

    2. For this reason, my suggested approach would be to do a Repair installation on Internet Explorer. You can do this by going into Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and double-clicking Internet Explorer in the list. If you're not running Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1, then I would strongly recommend upgrading to this latest version instead - this will replace the suspect file and upgrade you to all of the latest functionality and security fixes. You can get it by going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
