Just Wondering

Hi Dan,
You get a little more than meets the eye when you go to the mirekw site linked in your post.
First, you may get a sinister looking animated pop-under with sound, of a guy in a KKK style hood and crazy e.european writing. You also get a Data Miner cookie from the stat.4U.pl stable, apparently a Polish data gathering outfit (see google if you read polish).
The program for screen snaps looks good, but why it has to carry the baggage I don't know. Anyway, just watch out.
Regards,
H

Strange indeed. I just clicked on the link in my posting and was taken to the site with none of the stated issues arising. I made sure my pop-up killer wasn't on. (However I do have a Google toolbar integrated into IE (6.0 SP1) which I think has a pop-up killer of it's own.)
I had no trouble and no intrusions. I also tried creating a shortcut to the page on my desktop. Closed IE and ran the shortcut. Clean again.
Anybody else reading this; do you get the garbage when loading the site?

Hi Dan,
The data miner was found by adaware, twice, on two test visits to the site. The pop-under was just on the first visit, nasty looking thing.
I'm all fairly well protected too, and always check after any doubtful looking unfamiliar pop.

I just got a popup from net punkty....... never heard of it........ Data miners are hardly something to have a panic attack over...... they are just tracking cookies... Of course the second time you visit the site you won't get the popup......... it leaves the tracking cookie so it knows you have already seen it.
BTW I am not in the habit of using IE for anything........ HEHE just comes in handy for testing purposes.

I turned off my pop up stopper and got the ad. It's just a polish company offering 50% off your first year if you sign up with them. Yes I got the tracking cookie, I doubt there are many sites you could go to these days that don't have them. As Jaynee said you wont see it the second time, it is just to register that you've seen it. Saves seeing the same ad over and over. No nasties there to worry about. If you click on his link to more programs you will see the stat4u link down the bottom

Strange, I received no popups or anything. Well I'm glad nothing bad came from the link.

Yes, I agree that it is a good way to make a screen shot! Sometimes it's helpful for sharing experience with friends for example... But I suppose that it's not the best sollution of the problem to use windows built-is screen capturing prog just because it's not convenient to 'prt sc'-past all the time. If you wanna make a tutorial you will spend a lot of time making shots. In this case it's much more convenient to use special screen capturing software. It is allways so that you are able to set a hot key - to use the most suitable button for you to shot.
Moreover sometimes it's much more convenient to create not slide-show tutorial or presentation but video one. For ex I use Screen Vidshot for creating tutorials for the customers of our firm. Formerly I used to create slide show tutorials and must admit no that it took me much more time to create an understandable one... So it's everybodys choice what to use but I suggest to think of time and strength saving by means of suitable handy program...
