I have an emachine (etower 766id) and I can't get a microphone to work. I have been to the controle pannel and went into the sound and ran the voice test and there is no response to the micraphone. Speakers work great for music and phone applications but the new mike wont work and this is the second new mike.
The sound input and output is on the main board.
Help this dummy please.

are you sure the mike plug isn't on the keyboard?

No there isn't a receptical on the keyboard. Thanks anyway.

Which Mic / Line in connector did u sue ? Front (if any) orr on theback of the PC ?

double click the speaker icon in your system tray. this will bring up the properties for your sound. Make sure none of the mute boxes are checked.

Then, click Options>Properties. Check the radio button for playback and makes sure there is a tick in the micraphone box. In fact, make sure all the boxes have ticks Do the same for Recording also.
