    Computer keeps rebooting non stop

My computer reboots over and over again and I can't get to the start screen. I get this message: "The shut down was initiated by NT Authority\systems." The second part of the message says, " The system process C:\WINNT\System\services.exe terminated unexpectedly with status code 128. The system will now shut down and restart. I could go in Safe Mode after but I could not do any thing in safe mode. I click the start button and nothing happens. If I click program icons I get different error messages such as " Insufficient system resources" or " your system is low on virtual memory" or there is not enough free memory to run this program. I have 256 MB of Ram which should be fine. Any help to put this computer back on track would be greatly appreciated.

This Microsoft support article discusses the exact same error message, the cause of it and the solution.

I read the article. I followed all the steps but got lost at step 5. I dont see a data path on the right side of the Registry Editor. Under Data column there are three words in parenthesis (Value not set). The step 6 is beyond my comprehension. Is there any easier way to restore the Windows 2000 without loosing all the data and programs on it.

You could try rebooting the PC with the Windows 2000 CD in your CD-ROM drive. When it starts up, it should boot off of the CD and then initiate the Windows 2000 Setup program. This will give you an option to repair the faulty Windows installation.

Doing a Windows repair install is never the first answer that we like to give as it can have side-effects such as removing all of your Windows updates, restoring an older version of Internet Explorer or breaking any later version you may have, restoring the original versions of system files that might cause problems with any other software that is running on the PC. However, all of your data (documents etc) should still be in tact so you might just need to re-install a couple of programs to get them going again.

I followed your instruction but it did not work. Any other suggestion. someone suggested the computer is infected with blaster worm. I tried to remove the worm but a message says that no blaster worm found. I thind I have to take the machine to shop instead of wasting time unless there is any other solution to avoid that

I'm a bit confused - did you get into Windows and somehow get it working enough that you could run a tool to fix 'MS Blaster' ?

I thought that you got errors every time you clicked the Start Menu?

If Windows is working enough, we can get you to install and run HiJackThis and then diagnose the log file that it creates for you. We might then be able to help you remove any security-related problems.
