iframe/object error, connect box always appears
whenever i am offline, my connect box stays on the screen. I close it and it just pops right back up. I've went into everything I can think of to try to correct it but nothing has worked. and now for 24 hours or so, when i'm online every time i change webpages, little boxes pop up that say error iframe and/or error object. its driving me and my husband crazy and we don't know whats wrong! help!!!
thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me.

What brower are you using... what type of internet connection do you have?
-
it's a dial up connection, and a hewlett packard computer with win 98...not sure what a browser is? sorry..
-
Internet Explorer would be your browser unless you've installed & use another.
Go into Tools > Internet Options > Advanced & click the button that says restore defaults.
Also open the connections tab & see how your dial-up is configured.
Also open the General tab & where it says Temporary Internet files choose Delete Files.
see if this helps.
you might want to also consider posting a hijack this log in the hijack this section:
please follow owen's Instructions and then post your log in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.

jephree, I'm sure there are some nasty exe's such as sex diallers, that keep trying to connect to the internet. Would it be worth running both AdAware and Spybot? I have noticed recently that some of these nasty diallers are actually being installed even without the users permission. One reason I ditched IE in favour of FireFox
-
HappyBeaver, I agree! those steps are included in owen's Instructions
but good also for you to point out.
thanks!
There are many custom settings within IE to protect users but that would be another thread I suppose. Just for example in IE Options Advanced there are two checks for "Install on demand" which by default are OPEN!

LOL - sorry jephree
I must learn to read

My computer is up and running...somewhat again, I downloaded firefox, and use it instead of ie, and no more iframe or object errors. I still can't post a hijack log because ie won't let me and about:blank has hijacked my homepage to penis enlarger ads for my kids to see! so needless to say ie is off limits in my home until i get this off and then I will still use firefox. also I downloaded avg free virus detector which i'm so glad because it got rid of most of my trojans, back doors, and viruses that had gotten into my computer somehow. but I still can't restore my computer to original...whatever is in it won't let me still. for the person who emailed me wondering what i did about this, i hope this all helps, email me for more info on the sites and stuff with your email if you need me.

IE would have no effect on downloading & running HijackThis.
Try to download THIS to a non temporary location: My Documents (for example)
After download double click the icon hijackthis.exe
If this still doesn't work try it in Safe Mode.
& just by the way; did you try these steps in the recovery process?
