    Unhappy SURegCreateKey Failed

Ok, here is a test of the D-A-L Forum...

I have a WinME Laptop that does not see its CDRom drive except in Bios and then only barely (It recognizes it as a Teac but will not list it as a boot device)

Its a Dell Inspiron 2500 POS (I used to work on Dell Laptops so I know most of the Hardware is working, but I need to test the Controller and the only way to do that is either boot to WinME or boot from the CDRom...sooooo)

Now, The last thing installed on this laptop was a Targus Defcon MDF anti Theft device. The numb-Nughts who did this installed the XP Driver not the WinME/98 driver and the laptop will not reboot after that.

I have a new bios that will repair/fix the CDROm bug of losing that configuration but again, I need to boot to the OS to get there...I do not have a floppy currently on the system because the same Numb-Nught threw it out as not needed.

I can not boot to safe mode nor can I do step by step and get to a prompt. I am telling it not not to load the registry, should I? I have no experience in WinME...Never liked that it mixed NT and DOS Functions. Thank you for any advice and help.

    Andy

I get this right after the Windows ME logo screen. Before it even attempts to load Explorer. I have tried safemode, wont load, tried confirmation, nada. I am close to pitching this thing out the windows...However, Today I brought all my bag of tools to play with it. If its a controller I will be able to find out.

Not the Controller, and when trying to reinstall the OS (Regscanner tried fixing but no go) I now get at 62% copied Invalid Page Fault in VerX.dll 002:xxx
