    Unhappy scandisk never finishes!

What would keep scandisk from finishing up its task? I have three times, once overnight, tried to get scandisk to finish up and give me a report. It comes up looking for lost file fragments and locking up, even 7-8 hours later. What's up? How do I fix this?

Have you tried running it in Safe Mode?

It all depends on your computer.

What happens when you power on?

Do you see text running; counting ram; identifying drives; etc.?

Or perhaps you just see a Logo Screen for your manufacturer?

After the text goes to a black screen or as soon as the Logo goes black start tapping.

Also you can go to Start > Run > msconfig
Then Boot.Ini & choose Safe Mode there.
You will have to change it back afterwards.

It was Symantec's directions for running msconfig that did it! Got into safe mode, ran the scan, reset, and scandisk finished up in normal mode If I had to hit F8 all during startup, I might still be waiting to get into safemode. Thanks for your help!
