HELP ME PLEASE!
-
I have a friend around the corner who has an HP 630 mhz computer and it has this problem regularly. There are a number things we do including virus and spyware checking. Xoftspy is a good one - really cleans them all out. If you use Internet Explorer on the net, it saves all sorts of data as temporary internet files. Over a period of time it can really clog up your hard drive and cause a problem with virtual memory which needs a certain amount of disk drive space to run effectively. When we have used Disk Cleanup, found in your Accessories/system tools, it has done the trick. My pastor had the same problem with his computer, and we found out that he had not done a Disk Cleanup for 5 years!!! No wonder it was as slow as a wet week. This problem usually happens on computers with smaller hard disk drives. I hope this helps.
Cheers

IE clogging up ur harddrive with all kind of temp internet files can be easily avoided. Go to Tools - Internet Options - General - Temporary Internet Files - Settings. There u can configure how much space is used for temp internet files. Set it down to a megabyte or two and the clogging is history.
