    safe mode or graphic problems

I hope someone can help me. I recently switched from an ibm to emachine cpu. My icons and font on my desktop look like they do when I am in safe mode but I am not. ALso when my AIM buddy list or AIM.com comes up they are larger thatn usual. I have tried everything but am having no luck. It is driving me crazy!!!

What's the "everything" that you've tried? That doesn't leave us much else to suggest

Sounds to me like your display resolution needs adjusting or your graphics card drivers need re-installing. To check this out, try the following:

    Click the Start Menu
    Click Settings
    Click Control Panel
    Double-click the Display icon.

At the bottom, it will say the name of your graphics card and your monitor, e.g. "ATi Rage 128 on Samsung SyncMaster 15" monitor". If it says "Standard VGA graphics adapter", then your graphics card isn't being properly detected or isn't correctly configured and Windows is running the default graphics settings.

If the above seems OK, look at the slider bar on the right of that screen. The resolution is probably set to 640 x 480 pixels. Move the slider bar over to the right so that it is set to 800 x 600 pixels. Click Apply and see if it's any better (you might need to restart the PC). If it can't handle this setting and the screen goes off, or black, or wobbly, etc., leave it about 15 seconds and it will go back to the previous settings automatically. If it was already on 800 x 600, try putting it up to 1024 x 768. It's hard to give very specific advice on this because we don't know what graphics card and monitor you have. Anyway, once you've got a setting that looks better, click OK and restart the PC.

If that doesn't resolve it, let us know and we'll talk you through the next steps.
