    restore my active desktop errors

This problem is occuring several times each day. The desktop goes to a white screen, with the error message " restore my active desktop". Clicking on the "restore" brings back my desktop, but I haven't a clue as to how to troubleshoot this on going problem. I am also experiencing numerous lock-ups/freezes. I have tried using Norton and Registry Mechanic but both programs state " no problem found" with my registry. Help?

In my past experience with Win98, it's best to disable the Active Desktop altogether.
It was never properly sorted and affected the stability of Windows.

To disable the Active Desktop, right-click an empty area on the desktop, point to Active Desktop, and then click View As Web Page to clear the check mark.
